TW Walsh - Songs of Pain Leisure

You should really spend sometime with this record, it is absolutely incredible.

Stream The New Tennis Album "Young & Old"

Good morning everyone! If you needed a little boost to your day here is your fix. Tennis is streaming their much anticipated Young & Old in it’s entirety leading to its Valentines day release. The Denver based group worked with The Black Keys Patrick Carney on the follow up to their widely praised Cape Dory. I personally cannot wait to pick this one up, but in the mean time, stream on.

http://www.andrewbird.net This has added a pleasant warmth to what would like to be a cold and dreary day off. Thank you Mr. Bird I will see you in March.

Almost five years I have waited for this, The Shins are back. Returning with “Simple Song” and its glorious. I thoroughly enjoyed Mercers efforts with Broken Bells, but deep down I wished it was the shins every time I listened to them. This is The Shins. Without a shadow of a doubt, and it feels so good to say that. If this is a taste of whats to come, I think we are in store for something special.

This is a jam and a half. I keep getting lost in this track.

Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation 4.5/5
Genres: Dream Pop
Released:Sep 27, 2011
2011 Fat Possum Records

After first listen it’s clear that Youth Lagoon’s Trevor Powers is on a mission to take you back to a special time in your life, your youth. It’s such a brilliantly crafted journey that evokes many visual memories of when things were much easier. Taking you over a bright landscape of warm reverb and distant vocals, powers is on point when it comes to arranging a track. It is easy to look past the overwhelming sense of worry buried beneath the catchy pop melodies, but Powers is someone who is deeply anxious of what comes next. The struggle of not knowing whats next in our youth is equally combated with a hopefulness that everything will fall into place, and that is the overall feeling of “The Year in Hibernation.” There are so many great things happening on this album, why don’t you find out for yourself over here.

Best Tracks: “Posters, “Afternoon”, “17”

The Black Keys got an El Camino.

Controlled chaos is a beautiful thing. The ability to put so much detail into an action that without the most sincere attention all would be lost. Watching Annie Clark control not only the crowd glued to her every move, but the emotion that filled each person there was nothing but awe inspiring. There was this playfulness to her interaction with the crowd, much like a cat holding down the tail of a mouse, letting it run away only to have the satisfaction of catching it again. Spending majority of the set focused on her third, and most intimate release, “Strange Mercy” she carefully recreated all of the raw emotion that powered the studio recording. Watching clark exhaust herself to her passion was, and always will be a highlight in my concert going memories. Thank you Annie for such an amazing night.
